The Sisterhood of the Rose

The Rose has profound meaning in many religions. It is associated with Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of love, who was often depicted adorned with roses around her head. In Christian lore, a rose bush was said to have grown at the site of Christ’s death. The red rose symbolizing his blood, combined with its thorns, representing the ultimate sacrifice.

The Rose also represents the advancement of the Soul through the trials of life. This is explained by the cultivated rose, that comes in so many colors and has hundreds of petals, having had its origin in the humble wild rose, that only has five. It is through a lot of work and the passage of time that our souls, as the wild rose, become a magnificent masterpiece.

The Rose is also associated with Mary Magdalene and the Virgin Mary, and is a universal symbol of Love, compassion and balance.
